ALPINE — Skeletal human remains were discovered at Lambert Park in Alpine, Lone Peak police said.
At 10:30 p.m. Friday, police responded to a report of suspected human remains in the park, which is "largely undeveloped and used for biking, equestrian and foot traffic," Lone Peak police detective Melissa Fahrni said.
She said officers confirmed the presence of the remains and subsequently cordoned off the area "to ensure integrity before investigative steps were initiated.
The scene was processed early Saturday, with assistance from the medical examiner's office, before the remains were taken to the medical examiner's office for further examination and possible identification, Fahrni added.
The identity of the remains, along with the possible cause of death, remains under investigation.
