CEDAR CITY — A road construction worker was injured when he was hit by a vehicle near Brian Head on Thursday.
The incident, which was reported about 11:30 a.m., occurred on state Route 143 a mile or two below the S-curve that's just outside Brian Head town limits.
Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Clay Allred said a traffic control worker was in the roadway holding a stop sign when he was struck by a passing Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
"The truck driver did not see the flagger until the last minute and ended up clipping the flagger going an estimated speed of between 30 and 40 mph," Allred told Cedar City News, adding that the worker's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
