SALT LAKE CITY — Criminal charges were filed Friday against a Salt Lake man with a history of exposing himself in stores, allegedly as a way to "pick up" women.
Jorge Luis Gomez, 25, is charged in four separate cases in 3rd District Court with a total of five counts of lewdness with a prior offense, a third-degree felony.
According to charging documents, Gomez's offenses include:
- Exposing himself to a woman in a Home Goods store in Sandy on May 25, 2022.
- Exposing himself to a 14-year-old girl in Hobby Lobby in South Jordan on Aug. 2, 2023.
- Exposing himself to a woman at a Hobby Lobby in Sandy on the same day, Aug. 2, 2023.
- Exposing himself to a woman in a Hobby Lobby in Sandy on March 14.
When police identified Gomez as a suspect and searched his phone, they found videos that Gomez recorded of himself exposed while following women in stores, according to charging documents.
"Gomez admitted that he has done this in the past, in different stores and in different cities. Gomez stated that this is what he does to 'pick up' women. Gomez admitted that he needs help," the charges state.
Gomez was also charged last year with two additional counts of lewdness with a prior offense. In one case he was charged with exposing himself to a woman in a Salt Lake Target store on March 30, 2022, and again on March 17, 2023, in Target again.
He pleaded guilty in one case on March 17 earlier this year. His plea was held in abeyance and may be affected by his new charges.
