SALT LAKE CITY — New wildfires sparked up in Wendover and Deer Creek Wednesday, joining several other wildfires burning across the state, according to Utah Fire Info.

Dollar Ridge Fire in Duchesne and Wasatch counties now 60 percent contained

The devastating Dollar Ridge Fire, which has destroyed dozens of homes and caused large-scale evacuations, now is 60 percent contained, fire officials report. As of Wednesday evening, the fire has burned 56,687 acres, or about 89 square miles, according to Utah wildfire officials. There are still 857 workers assigned to the fire, officials said.

Patterson Pass Fire in Box Elder County grows to 1,500 acres

A fire burning in the remote Pilot Mountains near the Utah-Nevada border has grown to about 1,500 acres, or about 2.3 square miles, according to Utah fire officials. The Patterson Pass Fire was caused by lightning in the Pilot Range, about 40 miles north of Wendover. It was first reported just before noon on Wednesday.

Patterson Pass Fire in Box Elder County caused by lightning

Lightning sparked a new wildfire near the Utah-Nevada border in Box Elder County on Wednesday afternoon, officials said. The Patterson Pass Fire is burning about 300 acres, or about half a square mile, on Bureau of Land Management land in Box Elder County, according to Utah wildfire officials. The fire was previously reported at 500 acres in size, but officials now estimate it is 300 acres. Patterson Pass is located in the Pilot Mountains southwest of Lucin, along the Utah-Nevada border. Crews from the BLM in Salt Lake and in Elko, Nevada were fighting the fire, officials said.

Roads closed near Deer Creek dam as crews fight new wildfire

State Route 189 remains open near the Deer Creek Reservoir dam as crews are fighting a new, 150-acre wildfire, officials reported. The fire was first reported about noon, Wasatch County Sheriff's office officials said on Facebook. Cascade Springs road is closed north of the dam, and Forest Road 114, between Sundance Resort and Cascade Springs, also is closed, sheriff's officials said.

New wildfire burning near Deer Creek

A wildfire sparked near Deer Creek State Park Wednesday and has burned 150 acres, according to Utah Fire Info. No structures are threatened at this time. The fire is producing a lot of smoke that is visible from Highway 189. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

New 500-acre fire sparks in Box Elder County

A new blaze officials are calling the Patterson Pass Fire sparked near Wendover Wednesday, according to Utah Fire Info. The fire has burned 500 acres, but the cause of the fire has not yet been released. Information about threatened structures, road closures or evacuations was not immediately made available. Dollar Ridge Fire (Duchesne and Wasatch counties)

The Dollar Ridge Fire did not grow much overnight and remains at about 50 percent containment. The fire has burned 52,256 acres. Crews are still working to protect structures, especially along Lower Rock Creek Road.

Foothill Fire (northwest of Holden, Millard County)

The Foothill Fire that began burning in central Utah Tuesday evening saw minimal growth overnight and through Wednesday morning, thanks to a bulldozer line and air resources, Utah Fire Info said in a tweet. The fire is still estimated at 150 acres.

Fire in Layton extinguished

The fire in Layton that was sparked by a lightning strike Tuesday night has been extinguished, according to Layton City Fire Department Battalion Chief Jason Cook. The humidity and rain quenched the blaze, and crews stopped fighting the fire about 4 a.m. Wednesday. They are still monitoring hotspots, however. Fire officials initially estimated that the fire burned about 75 acres but adjusted their estimation Wednesday to 55 acres. No structures were threatened.

Ellerbeck Fire in Tooele County is 50 percent contained

The Ellerbeck Fire was sparked by a lightning strike just off Ellerbeck Road, west of Grantsville and south of I-80, about 10 p.m. Monday, according to the North Tooele Fire District. The fire has burned 4,000 acres on the north end of the Stansbury Mountains and is 50 percent contained. No one has been evacuated and no structures are threatened. Crews will continue full suppression of the fire Wednesday by constructing handlines, reinforcing the control line and conducting an air attack.

Fire in Layton sparked by lightning

A lightning strike sparked a new fire in Davis County late Tuesday night, fire officials said. The fire is burning on state lands near 3200 West in Layton, according to Layton City Fire Department Battalion Chief Jason Cook. It began just before 9 p.m. and quickly grew to about 75 acres, but no structures are threatened. Crews from Kaysville, North Davis and Syracuse, as well as the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands, responded and are monitoring the fire. Because of the fire's location and difficulty in accessing it, crews decided to limit their engagement overnight and are reassessing how to fight the fire Wednesday.
