MANTUA, Box Elder County — A Logan woman is dead following a crash near Mantua, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jacob Cox confirmed Saturday.
At about 3:30 p.m., a silver Hyundai was traveling southwest on state Route 91 near Mantua. For an unknown reason, the driver of the Hyundai entered the median area, which was slightly covered with slush, and lost control of the car.
The Hyundai crossed over into the northbound lane, where it clipped the left rear corner of a Chevrolet Cruze that was in the left lane, police said. The Chevy spun out across the southbound and came to rest in the south emergency lane. The Hyundai continued across the north lanes and struck a Honda that was traveling northeast in the right lane. The Honda was struck near the driver's door.
The driver of the Honda, identified as Teri A. Taylor, 46, of Logan, was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger in the Honda, identified as Emily Taylor, 20, sustained minor injuries and was released at the scene.
The passengers of the Chevy and the driver of the Hyundai, 32-year-old Abdiaziz Mowlid-Sheik, were uninjured.
UHP said all drivers and occupants appear to have been wearing seat belts and there was no indication of impairment.
Police said one travel lane was closed for several hours. At the time of the crash, the travel lanes were clear of slush, but damp with only the median covered in slush.
