MURRY — A fire near Fashion Place Mall Monday evening caused a large power outage. Over 5,000 customers were without electricity for a couple of hours, Murray Power officials said.
The fire occurred at a substation near 6400 S. Fashion Place Boulevard. Dan Stireman of Murray Power said it is a "serious problem" and initially estimated it could take quite some time before power was restored.
Still, all affected customers had electricity back on by 10: 15 p.m., Stireman said.
The fire was put out quickly, but Stireman said the company doesn't yet know what caused it.
