NORTH OGDEN — An investigation has begun after it appears the police chief here accidentally shot himself in the arm during a training exercise.

Chief Kevin Warren was participating Thursday afternoon in a regular department drill, led by two certified firearms instructors, when the accident occurred, according to a news release. The drill simulated "scenarios and tactics" officers are likely to encounter in the line of duty.

Warren was transported to Ogden Regional Medical Center and treated for his injuries, a gunshot to his right forearm. He is expected to make a full recovery, police said.

The North Ogden Police Department and the Weber County Attorney's Office are investigating the incident.
