IDAHO FALLS — Idaho Falls police announced Monday that they were able to take a 39-year-old woman into custody and verify that her 4-year-old boy was safe.

Tanisha Hill turned herself in after police asked for the public’s help in locating her and her son over the weekend, according to a news release.

“Hill was booked into Bonneville County jail on charges of aggravated assault,” according to the news release. “Potential charges related to the hit-and-run incident are still pending.”

Hill was arrested in connection to two incidents that took place late Saturday night, the Idaho State Journal reported.

Police say they responded to a report of shots being fired on the 1300 block of Paul Street around 11:15 p.m. A short time later, they were also called to a hit-and-run accident near Gallup Street and Woodruff Avenue, which involved a tan Acura that struck a fence and shed and uprooted a stop sign, according to the news release. Police believe Hill was involved in both incidents.

They served a search warrant at her home early Sunday morning, but they did not locate her, according to the news release. That prompted authorities to ask for the public’s help in finding Hill and her son.
