SARATOGA SPRINGS — Police are investigating an infant death that took place on Wednesday as a possible homicide, officials said.

Police got the report of the death on Wednesday morning, Saratoga Springs City spokesman David Johnson said. The cause of death was yet to be determined, and an autopsy had not yet been completed, he said.

Police were investigating the death as a possible homicide, but the death remains under investigation, Johnson said. They were still trying to determine what time and where the death occurred, he said.

One person was taken into custody and was being questioned as of Wednesday evening, Johnson said. Police also were speaking to family members about the death. Johson did not say if the person who is in custody was a family member.

Johnson did not release any other details about the death.

“Due to (the) sensitivity of the situation, no other information will be given at this time until further investigation is completed,” Johnson said.
