SALT LAKE CITY — When the Ravens and the Patriots played Monday night five former BYU and Utah players played, Dennis Pitta, Kyle Van Noy, Eric Rowe, and Steve Smith Sr., with the superstar among all of them being Eric Weddle.

Weddle put in an incredible individual effort, giving the New England offense fits. Weddle was all over the ball and totaled 11 tackles. He also had his first sack of the season, late in the second quarter that led to the Ravens getting a last second field goal before the half. Also in the second quarter, Eric Weddle intercepted Tom Brady in the end zone.

That was Brady’s second interception all season, it was also Brady’s first interception in the end zone, and by extension the red zone all season. Pitta and Smith Sr. combined for eight receptions and 75 yards, continuing to be rocks for Joe Flacco. Van Noy had four combined tackles and defended a pass. Eric Rowe was dealing with a hamstring injury all week and was held out for this contest.

In other news, Paul Kruger finally made his first splash play since sacking Russell Wilson in Week 8. The Buccaneers took a snap on their own one-yard-line and went to do an inside handoff to Doug Martin. Kruger powered his way through the line and wrapped up Martin, dragging him down in his own end zone and awarding the Saints a safety.
