Author's Note: Each week, KSL brings you the stories of children living in foster care right here in our own communities. These kids need our help, and the opportunity to find a permanent home.SALT LAKE CITY — Breckin is a 10-year-old boy with an enthusiasm for life, and he's eager to make a few friends along the way.
KSL 5 News took Breckin for a fun day at Liberty Park, where he introduced himself to just about every kid he saw.
You'll be hard-pressed to find another boy who can match Breckin's energy and positive attitude.
"I could do this all day," he said as he ran around the park.
Breckin has been in the foster care system for almost two years now. In that time, he's often thought about why he wants to be adopted.
"It's good to have people who care for you and know that they love you," he said.
He knows being part of a family means sharing responsibilities, and he's been practicing.
"I always help around the house, which is good," he said. "I'm learning how to make good choices."
Breckin loves art class, learning about computers and making people laugh.
He may be quick with a good joke, but behind the bubbly personality is a little boy who needs a mom and dad.
"And a room with a fish tank," he added.
