MILLCREEK — Investigators are asking for help to locate the man who robbed a Chase Bank Monday morning.

Police are also investigating the possibility that the same man may have robbed another bank in Salt Lake County 45 minutes earlier.

A man presented a teller with a note demanding money at the Chase Bank at 1306 E. Woodland Avenue at 10:14 a.m., according to the Unified Police Department. The teller complied and the man left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

He left the bank on foot and was last seen heading east on Woodland Avenue, according to investigators. Police were unable to locate him in the area and said it is unknown whether he got into a vehicle.

Investigators described the man as a 5-foot-8 Caucasian between 30 and 40 years old who is around 200 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black stocking hat, gray T-shirt with black stripes, light-colored blue jeans and light-colored shoes. They also said he was wearing sunglasses and a goatee that appeared to be fake.

The man did not display any weapons during the robbery, but police said he should be considered dangerous.

The Unified Police Department is working with the Salt Lake City Police Department to determine whether he is connected to another robbery in the area. Just 45 minutes earlier, a U.S. Bank inside Smith's, at 922 E. 2100 South, was robbed by a man who had a similar appearance and mannerisms, police said. The robbery occurred just before 9:30 a.m.

Police said the man who robbed the Smith's also used a note to demand money from a teller. Investigators said he was wearing a white goatee and white baseball cap, with sunglasses and a blue sweatshirt that had "BA7" written on the front.

Anyone with information about the location or identity of the man can contact the Unified Police Department at 385-468-9816.
