SALT LAKE CITY — Police are asking for help to locate a man who they believe brandished a weapon at a Wal-Mart to avoid being detained by prevention loss personnel.
The man tried to leave the Wal-Mart at 350 W. Hope Ave. with merchandise he hadn't paid for Monday at 12:25 p.m., according to the Salt Lake City Police Department. They said the man paid for some items, but prevention loss personnel noticed it looked like he was trying to hide other items on his person and leave without paying for them.
Police said he became combative when employees tried to stop him before leaving the store, but the employees were able to contain him in an office. They let the man go after he displayed a weapon in the room.
