WEST JORDAN — A homeowner looking to evict some tenants found more than he expected: A homemade explosive.
The owner of a West Jordan home asked police to assist in an eviction Saturday evening. In the process, drugs, some drug paraphernalia and the homemade explosive were found, according to Ian Adams with the West Jordan Police Department.
While waiting for a warrant, the police called for assistance from the Utah State Bomb Task Force. A robot later entered the home and retrieved the device. Adams said it was disrupted in the street outside the home.
Three nearby homes were evacuated in the incident, and the street was temporarily closed down.
Adams said the investigation is ongoing, and they still have not identified all the individuals who may have been involved with the device.
No description of the nature of the explosive was offered.
