SOUTH JORDAN — Friends, roommates and neighbors are remembering three women who were victims in a Lake Powell boating accident Thursday.

Search efforts were made to locate two of the women Thursday and Friday, but technical problems with the diving gear halted the efforts until Saturday.

Marilyn Jackman of South Jordan was killed in the accident. Her daughter, Jessica went missing in the accident along with Valerie Rae Bradshaw who was a girlfriend to one of the Jackman sons.

The accident and loss has taken a toll on the family and neighborhood. Many people voiced their love and respect for the victims.

"It's been pretty hard to take," said neighbor Rick Wahlquist. "And I know there's a lot of people that are really just struggling and in shock over the whole thing. Marilyn is a saint and would do anything for anybody at anytime."

The Wahlquists have been neighbors of the Jackmans for over 20 years. They said that Jessica wanted to be a Miss America and a social worker when she grew up.

"Just a great young woman," Wahlquist said. "And what a tragedy to see this happen."

Marilyn's husband, Adrian Jackman serves as the LDS bishop in the area and he is also an avid gardener. Many of his church members and neighbors went to take care of his family's lawn on Friday and many said they are still in shock.

"You always hear about these things happening to other people," said neighbor Natalie Park. "We're a family at the house and it's just something that you never expect to hear and the last phone call you want to get at the end of any day."

Bradshaw's friends and roommates said she was extremely outgoing, a fun-loving 29-year-old who did things her way while bringing out t he best in others.

"She will be so missed because when she enters the room, it becomes full," said roommate Aloyse Robertson. "It becomes bright. And we love her."

Park helped Bradshaw pack her bags for the trip to Lake Powell.

"It was the trip she'd looked forward to all for weeks, for months," said Bradshaw's friend, Aubri Root.

A makeshift memorial was created at the front door of the Jackman's home in honor of the victims.
