SOUTH SALT LAKE POLICE — Two cars are missing and two automotive shop owners are frustrated after thieves stole two vehicles, using one of them to break into a business just down the road, all in broad daylight.

At around 6 a.m. Wednesday, right along a busy section of 3300 South, cameras caught a Ford Expedition slamming into the secured lot of Plowgian Auto, leaving behind bent poles and broken hinges.

"They went right through the middle of the gate," said repair shop owner Larry Plowgian.

He said the crooks didn't stop there, rummaging through the lot for unlocked cars and ransacking several of them.

"I don't know that a lot was taken that way, but it caused a humongous amount of damage with my fence," he said.

That blue SUV came from a reapair shop just a few blocks away, Z Automotive.

"You feel like you've been violated, and something should be done," said owner Lynn Rosier.

Rosier said the car, which belonged to a customer, was taken after the thieves cut a fence from top to bottom and drove the vehicle out. They also scrounged through several cars. A red 2000 Taurus is also missing, though Rosier said the car wasn't running.

While it's hard to make out any faces in the video, Rosier is offering a $500 reward for information leading to a conviction.

Both business owners are frustrated, hoping someone can help catch the thieves. The blue Expedition was recovered, dumped in Salt Lake City, but the Red Taurus is still missing.
