WEST VALLEY — Four people were injured Thursday in a multi-car accident on U-111 in West Valley.

The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at about 4700 South on U-111. A PT Cruiser headed northbound crossed over the center line and hit a black pickup truck head on, according to Lt. Matt Elson with the West Valley City Police Department.

The two occupants of the PT Cruiser, both adults, were flown via medical helicopter to an area hospital. The two occupants of the truck, also both adults, were transported to the hospital via ambulance.

"Right now, the injuries are serious, but at this point, everyone is expected to survive," Elson said.

The road was closed for a couple hours Thursday evening as police worked to investigate the scene. Elson said there was no indication that either alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident.
