SALT LAKE CITY — It's now March and while we have days that creep near 50 degrees, it still seems like spring is a ways off. Not to mention with the forecast of the storm headed toward Utah, it would seem that golfers have to continue their practice swing on the Wii for a few more weeks.

While a majority of Utah golf courses are still closed, there are a few that are up and running and few more set to open this weekend, and we've got your back, you eager golfers.

Here are three courses that you can book a tee time with today so you can finally scratch that golf itch that's been nagging at you for months. We also have done some digging and found three more courses that hope to open this weekend.

Wingpointe Golf Course

Wingpointe is out near the Salt Lake City International Airport, and all 18 holes and the range are now open to the public.

Wingpointe is a fun course with some challenging holes, which become tougher as you fight the windy conditions. The course is going for a Scottish feel with its links-style play and Scottish straw.

Wingpointe has actually been voted one of the top 5 golf courses in Utah by Golf Magazine, and Golf Digest once named it as one of the state's top two public-access courses.

18 holes at Wingpointe will cost you $47 with a cart and $33 without.

To book tee times hit the link/Search/ReservationRequest.aspx) or call 801-575-2345.

Mountain View Golf Course

Mountain View

The West Jordan course Mountain View has all 18 holes open and carts are allowed. You can also hit a bucket on the range to try and get your swing back after all these months.

The course is wide open and a great place to try and tweak your form and your clubs to get back on your game. It seems no matter where you hit the ball you're going to be on the fairway; it may not be your fairway, but it'll be a fairway nonetheless.

The course isn't as challenging as some may like, but again, that's great for golfers who are just starting out or those of us who need a kinder course to get our bearings at the first of the season.

A round of 18 at Mountain View will run you $28 and nine will set you back $14.

Riverbend Golf Course

Like Mountain View, Riverbend Golf Course in Riverton is a Salt Lake County course and one of the best around.

Riverbend currently has just the front nine open, but head professional Brent Baldwin said they hoped to have all 18 holes open with carts in the next day or so.

Riverbend is a fun course that will challenge the casual golfers and keep experienced ones entertained. The course is well maintained and has some long par fives and challenging par threes.

Riverbend is a great course to get you excited about the golfing season, and you can start booking tee times even though you may need a parka to play.

Nine holes at Riverbend will cost you $14 and 18 holes will run you $28.

You can book tee times for Riverbend here or give them a call at 385-468-1460.

We keep getting updates. Here are a few more courses that are open:

River Oaks Golf Course in Sandy: 801-568-4657

Central Valley Golf Course in Salt Lake City: 801-973-6271

Canyon Hills Park Golf Course in Nephi: 435-623-9930

Talons Cove in Saratoga Springs: 801-407-3030

Carbon Country Club in Price/Helper, nine holes open: 435-637-2388

Sunset View Golf Course in Delta: 435-864-2508

Several other courses hope to open this weekend or early next week. With the incoming storm the rain could likely help get rid of the remaining snow on the courses, but it could also waterlog the fairways and greens and delay the openings.

Fox Hollow Golf Club

Fox Hollow Golf Club in American Fork is a well-maintained and beautiful course.

After speaking with Fox Hollow they said they plan to open Friday, but that will still depend on whether the weather decides to cooperate.

The Ranches Golf Club

The Eagle Mountain course The Ranches is a challenging and beautiful course offering lots of room and long holes.

Mike, in The Ranches clubhouse, said the club is shooting for a Friday opening, weather permitting.

Cedar Hills Golf Club

The championship course at Cedar Hills offers great views and narrow fairways to keep you honest. The course will give you a fun and challenging round and it hopes to start letting you on the greens shortly.

The clubhouse said they are shooting for a Monday opening, but the rain over the next few days may make the course a bit too wet and soggy, but if not you can book a time for Monday.

Sleepy Ridge Golf Course

Sleepy Ridge in Orem isn't as well know as it should be. The course offers challenging holes and some beautiful views.

The links-style course offers some unique and fun drives as well as challenging greens.

Director of golf Gary Graham says they hope to open on Monday.

There you have it, golfers. If you just can't wait to get out and play there are a few courses open and ready to be played — as long as you're willing to brave the cold and the wind.

Let us know of other courses that are either open or set to open in the next few days. You can mention it in the comment boards, on Facebook or feel free to send me an email.
