WEST JORDAN — A manhunt for an ex-convict on the run from police went through neighborhoods Thursday night before the man was arrested.

Marcus Alexander Garcia, 25, was facing two warrants issued this month for joyriding, a third-degree felony, and failure to appear at a hearing regarding third-degree felony charges of aggravated assault and failure to stop for police, according to court records.

Police said an officer spotted Garcia and attempted to pull him over Thursday night, leading to a short pursuit about 9:45 p.m. near 6200 South and Jordan Landing Blvd. Garcia rammed police vehicles with his car before fleeing on foot. He is known to carry weapons and is considered dangerous, police said.

He was found hiding in a car in a driveway, police said.

Multiple agencies were assisting in the search for Garcia.

Already this year Garcia has been charged with felonies including joyriding, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and failure to stop for police. He also faces drug charges.

Garcia was convicted in 2008 of burglary, simple assault and criminal mischief. In 2005, he was convicted of attempted robbery.
