SALT LAKE CITY — There are people in this world who love to grocery shop. They enjoy browsing the aisles, perusing the products and scouting for sales.

I am not one of those people. If there’s a way I can speed up grocery shopping or eliminate it altogether, I’m all for it. Luckily, grocery stores seem to be responding to people like me.

Walmart recently announced that it will expand delivery service to the Salt Lake City and Provo areas. Several other grocery stores in Utah also offer delivery and pickup options that allow the shopper to go to the store’s website, choose the items they want and have them ready for pickup at the store or delivered to their home.

If you, too, want to shop from the comfort of your own home instead of hauling the kids around in the car, here are six places that have grocery delivery or pickup services in Utah:

Pickup:

Locations: Walmart has pickup services in 21 different cities from Logan to Payson.

What to do: Go to grocery.walmart.com, pick the items you want, put them in your online cart and pay. Then, choose a time and location to pick up your groceries. Once you arrive at the store, park in the designated pick-up area and your items will be delivered to your car.

Price: Free

Delivery:

Locations: In May, Walmart rolled out a delivery option in Salt Lake City and surrounding areas including Taylorsville, South Jordan, West Jordan, West Valley City and Riverton. And just a week ago, Walmart announced that it would also be offering delivery options in Provo and outlying areas like Springville, Lindon and Saratoga Springs.

What to do: The process for delivery is fairly similar to pickup, except you’ll choose a one-hour window for your groceries to be delivered to your house instead of picking them up at the store.

Price: Once delivered, you pay a $9.95 service fee. Customers can get their first order delivered for free with promo code FRESHCAR for a $50 minimum order.

Smith’s

Pickup:

Locations: All Smith’s stores offer the ClickList pickup service.

What to do: Visit Smith’s website, pick the items you want and put them into your online cart. Then, reserve a pickup time and store location. You can arrive during a one-hour window to pick up the groceries, but Smith’s suggests arriving in the middle of the time slot to beat the rush. Once you arrive, park in the designated area and call the number on the sign to let them know you’ve arrived.

Price: The service fee is waived for your first three orders. After that, it costs about $5 each time, though the amount varies per region.

Delivery:

Locations: Smith’s delivery is powered by Instacart, another food delivery service. The service is available in 42 Utah cities.

What to do: The process is fairly similar to pickup, but you’ll select a delivery time for the items to be delivered to your house.

Price: You get a free delivery on your first order, then there’s a $5.95 delivery fee and a $6 service charge applied to your order when it’s placed.

Macey’s

Pickup:

Locations: Macey’s Anywhere pickup service is available at all Macey’s stores.

What to do: You know the drill. Go to Macey’s Anywhere pickup website, make an account and start shopping. Then, choose the time and location and go pick up your groceries at the store. Macey’s does require a four-hour lead time, however, unlike Smith’s and Walmart’s faster service.

Price: There is a $1.99 service fee.

Delivery:

Locations: Macey’s Anywhere is offered in Holladay, Murray, Sandy, West Jordan, Lehi, Pleasant Grove, Orem, Provo, Spanish Fork and South Ogden.

What to do: Macey’s has partnered with Shipt to deliver groceries to their customers’ doors. Go to Macey’s Shipt website and pick and choose your items as well as a delivery location and time.

Price: You can get two weeks free and $15 off your first order if you sign up for an annual plan, then you’ll be billed $99 once the free trial period ends (which works out to $8.25 a month). A monthly plan costs $14 per month.

Instacart

Delivery:

Locations: Instacart is the company that powers Smith’s delivery service and is also available in 42 Utah cities.

What to do: The main difference between what Instacart does and what Walmart, Smith’s and Macey’s do is that Instacart delivers from a variety of different stores.

Go to Instacart’s website, make an account and enter your ZIP code to find out which stores they partner with near you, some of which include Whole Foods, Safeway and Costco. Then, choose the items you want, go to your online cart, pay and select a time for Instacart to deliver to your home.

Price: The delivery fee depends on the size of your order and the delivery time you choose, though it’s usually around $10. Your total order must also be over $10.

You can get free delivery if your order is $35 or more with Instacart Express. You can also get free delivery if you sign up for a membership for $149 a year.

Locations: Winder Farms delivers to 10 northern Utah counties including Box Elder, Cash, Weber, Morgan, Summit, Wasatch, Utah, Salt Lake, Davis and Tooele.

When you sign up with Winder Farms, you can create an order that will be delivered to you once a week by 8 a.m. on a day the company schedules based on your location. You can change your order when you so choose.
