SALT LAKE CITY — The Senate Judiciary Committee advanced the nomination of David B. Barlow as a federal judge in Utah to the full Senate on Thursday.

Utah Sens. Mike Lee and Mitt Romney urged the Senate to support his confirmation when it comes up for a vote.

“We have full confidence that David will serve Utah and the country with honor and integrity, faithfully applying the law and our Constitution to all matters and parties that come before him,” the senators said in a joint statement.

President Donald Trump nominated Barlow to serve as a judge on the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah in May. Barlow worked as the U.S. attorney in Utah from 2011 to 2014.
