LAND O' LAKES, Fla. (AP) — A Florida school resource officer will return to his position after an investigation of video posted on social media that showed him wrestling a female student to the ground while taking her into custody.

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco showed the video during a news conference on Wednesday. He said the officer had tried to get the girl to leave the cafeteria, where school officials said she was causing a disturbance. She refused, argued with him and raised her arm at the officer.

Nocco said the officer did an "arm bar" takedown in a "split-second" decision, adding that the officer "did what he had to do."

The Tampa Bay Times reports the video posted on Twitter shows him grabbing the student's arm and forcing her to the ground.
