WEST VALLEY CITY — A man was hospitalized after police say he tried to hit them with his car and then crashed it in West Valley City Friday night.
The man fled the crash and was engaged by a police dog, according to West Valley Police Lt. Amy Mauer.
Mauer said the incident began about 8:50 p.m. when police responded to a domestic disturbance call at 6702 W. 3860 South. The man wasn't home when officers arrived, but returned in his car while they were on scene.
Mauer said when officers approached the man's car, he revved the car engine and "lurched" at them.
No officers were injured, she said.
The man fled in his car but took a turn too fast and crashed, Mauer said; he then fled on foot. That's when officers used the police dog to engage and apprehend the man. He was hospitalized and treated for dog bites, police said.
Mauer said the man will be booked on suspicion of domestic violence, domestic violence in the presence of children, aggravated assault, resisting arrested, hit and run, and other charges.
The man’s name was not released Saturday morning.
