PROVO — Authorities announced Friday they have apprehended a Provo man they said escaped custody earlier in the week.
Boyd Paul Anderson, 49, was apprehended in South Salt Lake, Utah County Sheriff Sgt. Spencer Cannon said in a news release. Cannon said Anderson cut off his ankle monitor and escaped the Utah County Jail about 4:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Cannon said a woman who helped Anderson was also arrested and booked into jail; she was identified as Rebekah R. Robertson, 35.
Acting on a tip from South Salt Lake police on Thursday, the Utah County sheriff's deputies discovered the 2009 Chevrolet pickup Anderson allegedly took from a Provo dealership. Investigators believed Anderson was at a nearby apartment with Robertson; authorities obtained a search warrant and found them both inside.
“They were both taken into custody without further incident,” Cannon said.
Cannon said Anderson was arrested for investigation of escape, a third-degree felony, and misdemeanor obstruction of justice. Robertson was arrested for investigation of obstructing justice, the sergeant said, and is also being held for violating her parole.
Anderson was wearing the ankle monitor after sentencing for felony DUI and drug distribution charges. Cannon said Anderson has been booked into the Utah County Jail 37 different times since 1997.
