KAYSVILLE — A man arrested in September after police say he inappropriately touched a teenage girl during a high school football game has been formally charged.

Tyler Johnson Williams, 24, of Kaysville, was charged Nov. 12 in 2nd District Court with sexual battery, a class A misdemeanor.

On Sept. 6, 2019, during a Davis High School football game, a 14-year-old girl “reported that she had been assaulted” by Williams, according to charging documents.

“The girl stated that the defendant asked her and her friends about kissing boys and that he grabbed her buttocks with his hand over her clothing. The girl did not consent to the touching and was alarmed by the defendant’s conduct,” the charges state.

At least two girls told their parents what had happened and one sent a picture of Williams to her father, according to a police affidavit. The father showed the picture to a police officer working security at the game.

“I talked with around eight other juvenile females, aging around elementary through junior high, where they stated that Mr. Williams was going around asking girls their age, what school they attend, telling them his age, and asking if they wanted to kiss,” the officer wrote in his report.

An initial court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 11.
