SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah groups can apply for state funding for electric vehicle charging stations.

The Utah Department of Environmental Quality will begin accepting applications for grants to buy and install stations starting Monday.

Under this program, the agency will disperse nearly $5 million total in funding on a first-come, first-serve basis. The stations must be up and running within two years of receiving a grant.

Businesses and nonprofits are eligible to get up to 50% of costs, or $75,000, reimbursed for buying and installing charging stations.

Non-state government entities do not have a limit.
