WEST VALLEY CITY — Police continued to search Tuesday for the man who allegedly shot another man four times during an argument Monday night.

Meanwhile, West Valley police detectives were still interviewing witnesses and sorting through different stories to determine what actually happened, said police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku.

About 8:15 p.m. Monday, there was a group of people arguing outside near 3850 Benview Drive. Police were still trying to determine how many people were involved in the dispute, what they were arguing about, and whether any of the people live in that neighborhood.

A man was shot Monday evening in the area of 3850 Benview Drive in West Valley City.

As the fight settled down and the group began to disperse, a 34-year-old man and another man continued to have a conversation that became heated, Vainuku said. Eventually, the man pulled out a gun and shot the 34-year-old man four times. One of the shots grazed the victim's head, according to police. The victim was stable at a local hospital on Tuesday, according to police.

Originally, it was reported that the victim had walked across the street to simply find out what the group was arguing over. Vainuku said Tuesday that information turned out not to be true, and that the victim was part of the original argument.

The shooter walked away from the scene. As of Tuesday afternoon, he had not been identified or arrested. He is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, with a shaved head and many tattoos on each of his arms, according to police.
