President Donald Trump has signed a bill that expands a child abduction alert system to tribal land. The bill comes almost two years after an 11-year-old Navajo girl was sexually assaulted and killed on the reservation in northwestern New Mexico.
The Interior Department is increasing fees at the most popular national parks to $35 per vehicle, backing down from an earlier plan that would have forced visitors to pay $70 per vehicle to visit the Grand Canyon, Yosemite and other iconic parks.
A hotline tip led to an audit of the Washington County Sheriff's office and county search and rescue operations. State auditors found a handful of concerns, but county leaders say fixes are in the works for the issues raised in the report.
