HURRICANE, Washington County — A Nevada man was rushed to the hospital Friday night after falling out of a kayak at Quail Creek State Park.
The 18-year-old was fishing in a kayak near the main boat ramp, Utah State Parks Lt. Regan Wilson confirmed on Saturday. Dispatch received reports the man was in the water about 8:45 p.m.
Wilson said the man "most likely got his fishing line tangled, and was trying to get that untangled when he went under."
"I don't think he survived," said Wilson. He estimates the man may have been submerged for about 20 minutes.
"Life-saving measures were performed, and he was unresponsive during our contact," Wilson said. The man was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.
The incident is under investigation.
