BLANDING, San Juan County — Authorities in Blanding are investigating a possible threat to San Juan High School made on social media Tuesday.
Administrators are confident there is no imminent danger to students or staff at the school, San Juan School District officials said in a Facebook post. Further details about the nature of the possible threat were not available.
School district administrators are working with law enforcement officials, the post said. There will be an increased law enforcement presence at schools in the Blanding area on Tuesday due to the investigation, officials said.
This is the second possible threat to be investigated at a Utah school in as many days.
On Monday, authorities investigated a possible threat at Westlake High School in Saratoga Springs. The school was briefly under a shelter-in-place protocol, but investigators later determined the threat was not credible.
In that instance, a parent told school officials their student saw something on Snapchat that may have been a threat to the school, but police concluded the incident was a false report, according to Saratoga Springs City spokesman David Johnson.
