SALT LAKE CITY — Fire crews have battled dozens of fires in the past few days as hot, dry weather and Fourth of July fireworks have led to several blazes across Utah.
Almost all of them have been suppressed, fire officials said on Twitter.
The largest fire currently burning in the state — at 1,517 acres — is the Skull Flat Fire, burning on U.S. Forest Service land about five miles east of Beaver. It was 50% contained as of Friday morning, according to a news release from state fire officials.

The fire is thought to be lightning-caused, according to the release. It is smoldering and creeping, and smoke is expected to be visible on Friday, officials said.
Hot and dry conditions are expected to stoke fire behavior in the next few days, and smoke may increase, making the fire area more visible, according to the release. There are no evacuations or closures, and no structures have been threatened, officials said.
About 150 firefighters are currently assigned to the fire, officials said.
As of Friday evening, the Long Hollow Fire was 75% contained in Spanish Fork Canyon, officials said. It may be fully contained by Saturday, according to officials.
