ENTERPRISE, Washington County — A 3.8-magnitude earthquake that hit in southwestern Utah on Wednesday afternoon is the strongest of a handful of quakes that have rocked the area in the past week, officials said.
The epicenter of the quake was located 1.4 miles south of Upper Enterprise Reservoir, according to University of Utah Seismograph Station officials. A 2.8-magnitude “foreshock” preceded the earthquake by about two minutes, officials said.
Ten other earthquakes — ranging from magnitudes from 0.8 to 2.9 — have hit the area in the last week, officials said.
People reported feeling the earthquake in Central, about 14 miles east of the epicenter, and in Ivins, about 30 miles south of the epicenter.
In the last two weeks, several earthquakes have also hit nearby, south of St. George and south of the Utah-Arizona state line, according to the U. Of U. Seismograph Stations.
