SALT LAKE CITY — A cold front that pushed past most of Utah will result in colder temperatures for trick-or-treating throughout the state and likely rain later Wednesday evening and into Thursday morning.
KSL meteorologist Grant Weyman said temperatures will likely be in the mid-to-low 40s Wednesday evening in northern, central and southern Utah. However, it will likely remain dry until the later part of Wednesday night when precipitation is expected to move through the Wasatch Front.

“Late tonight, we might start to see some showers,” Weyman said. “We’ll start getting some scattered rain showers probably in the early morning with some mountain snow, as well.”
Weyman said many across the Wasatch Front should expect showers off and on Thursday. Those above 7,000 feet should expect snow, he added — which could mean a messy morning work commute.
Utahns already experienced colder temperatures when a cold front passed through Tuesday. Many of the Wednesday morning lows were in the 20s and 30s from Logan through St. George. It even got into the teens in Park City, according to the National Weather Service.
More showers are anticipated for the weekend, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing for the drought-stricken state.
“If we can keep this going through the water year, through the winter season, a storm, even if it’s not a super big one, one every three or four days would be great,” Weyman said. “We’d be right where we need to be in the mountains, as far as snow goes.”
