SPOILER ALERT: The following article discusses certain plot elements from the two movies in the “Jurassic World” trilogy: “Jurassic World” and “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.” If you want to avoid spoilers for those films, you may not want to read this story.

THE JURASSIC WORLD — What would you do if you were just minding your own business, doing some normal activity, and a dinosaur shows up right next to you? That’s the question posed in a new short film set in the universe of the “Jurassic World” movie trilogy.

The 8-minute short film “Battle at Big Rock” debuted Monday morning. Helmed by “Jurassic World” director Colin Trevorrow, the film stars André Holland and Natalie Martinez.

It takes place after the events of last year’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” and before the third installment of the trilogy, which is set to start filming next year.

At the end of “Fallen Kingdom,” dinosaurs were released into the wild to coexist with humans in a new “neo-Jurassic” era.

In “Battle at Big Rock,” Holland and Martinez play a couple who are camping at the fictional Big Rock National Park along with their three children, including a new baby. They soon spot a dinosaur that has made its way into their campsite, and then, shockingly, things take a turn for the worse.

The film is meant to give viewers a peek into the setting that the events of “Fallen Kingdom” has created, and to hold dino fans over until the franchise’s next Jurassic installment. The movie will be released in July 2021 with stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning.

Does the new short film make you intensely excited for “Jurassic World 3” like a T. rex about to pounce on its prey, or does it make you want to run away from the trilogy as fast as a velociraptor? Let us know in the comments.
