SANDY — Megaplex Theaters has officially joined the movie subscription service game.
The Utah theater chain on Tuesday announced the MegaPass — a subscription service that will get members discounts on movie tickets and snacks at Megaplex Theatres locations in Utah and Nevada.
“We designed MegaPass with movie fans in mind,” Megaplex Theatres President Blake Andersen said in a Tuesday news release.
The service cost of $14.95 per month gets you two movie tickets every 30 days, according to the news release. You can use the subscription to buy tickets for 2D and 3D screenings, as well as premium movie formats such as IMAX, D-BOX and Dolby Atmos, the release states.
The plan does not include the Megaplex location at 905 S. Main Street in St. George because that location shows previously released movies at already discounted ticket prices, according to the Megaplex website.
New members will commit to subscribing for at least six months upon signing up, according to the Megaplex website.
The theater chain is partnering with Atom Tickets to offer the service. MegaPass subscribers will be exempt from convenience fees for buying tickets on the Atom Tickets app, according to the release.
Members can also use both of their allocated movie tickets in a given month to see a movie with another person, according to Megaplex. The service also allows members to bring up to six other people along to a screening with a $1 discount per ticket.
Members will also save 15 percent on concessions and will be able to see the same movie more than once with MegaPass, according to the release.
If you don’t use one of your movie tickets during a given month, it will not roll over to the next month, according to the Megaplex website.
“We’re thrilled to have Megaplex Theatres as our first partner onboard and live with a new movie membership service,” Matthew Bakal, Chairman and Co-Founder of Atom Tickets, said in the release.
