SALT LAKE CITY — “Wonder Woman” actress Lynda Carter and rock star Alice Cooper are the latest additions to the lineup for FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention’s spring event.
FanX officials announced the addition of Carter and Cooper on Twitter on Monday morning. The event takes place on April 19 and 20 at the Salt Palace Convention Center.
The event also will feature a performance from Carter’s band on Friday night, according to FanX organizers.
Fans have been asking for Lynda Carter to make an appearance in Salt Lake since 2013, so it’s exciting that she’s finally here, FanX Chief Marketing Officer and Co-Founder Bryan Brandenburg said.
“Lynda Carter is a legend,” he said. “She rarely does these kinds of events, so we feel really privileged that she chose ours out of the couple that she does every year.”
FanX organizers were close to bringing Carter to their event last September, but ended up pushing it back to the April convention, Brandenburg said.
Brandenburg anticipates that Cooper will attract some spectators to attend FanX who normally wouldn’t go, he said.
“We’re just really excited that somebody of that stature… is going to be at our event,” Brandenburg said.
The lineup also includes “The Office” actors Brian Baumgartner and Angela Kinsey, as well as “The Avengers” actor Paul Bettany, “Harry Potter” actor Warwick Davis and more.
Eight more guests have yet to be announced, Brandenburg said.
Another actor from “The Office” will be joining Baumgartner and Kinsey, according to Brandenburg. That announcement will be made on Friday, he said.
KSL Newsradio’s Dave Cawley, Sheryl Worsley and Becky Bruce also will be featured on a guest panel to discuss the podcast “Cold.” The podcast reports new information about the Susan Powell case and presents an in-depth look at the case.
The spring FanX event is typically more intimate, with an emphasis on unique fan experiences, Brandenburg said. The performance from Carter’s band, which is the first musical performance at FanX, fits into that category, he said.
“We’re bringing some special things to the table,” he said.
Last year was a challenging one for FanX, Brandenburg said. He anticipated that this year will be a breakout year for FanX, though.
“It just feels like 2019 is going to be a big surge forward in attendance and the caliber of people we bring in,” he said.
FanX passes are available now. Prices range from $25 for tickets to Friday’s FanX session to $200 for a VIP pass for the whole weekend.
