Responsible for providing technical instruction for students enrolled in the Medical Coder and Medical Office Administration programs. Course content areas may include Coding (procedural, diagnostic, and advanced coding) and Medical Office Administrative Procedures (insurance billing, collections, reception, and appointment scheduling). Additional responsibilities include curriculum development and implementation, verifying student competencies, student advisement, meeting student retention, completion and licensure and placement goals, supervising student internships/externships, maintaining student records, budget management, marketing courses, and maintaining contact with area employers.
Relocation costs may be covered.
Must hold a minimum of an associate???s degree in Health Information Technology, Health Information Management or related field. Preference will be given to those who have a bachelor???s degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, Health Sciences, Health Services Administration or related field. Minimum of three years of related work experience both in medical coding and front office duties. Must hold current Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentials from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
