Job Title: Desktop Publishing/Quality Assurance Specialist Status: Full-time, hourly rate, 40 hours per week, 8:30 am to 5 pm Rate of Pay: $14 Benefits: Life Insurance, 401k, Health Insurance, paid vacation and sick leave Location: 320 W 200, 3rd Floor, SLC Department: DTP/QA Reports To: DTP Manager SUMMARY: The DTP/QA Specialist will work within the QA department in reviewing translations against the original files paying close attention to differences and noting and correcting any issues. This person will also work with programs such as InDesign and Framemaker for layout of translated files. This person would provide desktop publishing services within the Desktop Publishing/QA Department. The position requires use of a wide variety of desktop publishing software and exists for complete support of the Desktop Publishing/QA Manager. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Uses various formatting software to insert target document text into source documents. 2. Works with a variety of translation memory software such as MemoQ and Trados. 2. Is required to manage project workflow through the desktop publishing and quality assurance processes to assure client deadlines are met. 3. Must be capable of working under periodic stressful conditions. 4. Responsible to interpret or follow company policies and procedures and to integrate all functions performed with the Company staff. 5. Must maintain client confidentiality. Many clients require absolute confidentiality of their work and the Company signs confidentiality agreements. Information about client work must not be shared with persons not having a requirement to know. 6. Must maintain a working knowledge of the Project Management Department activities and coordinate with them for project work assignment. 7. Is a major contributor to the Company???s Quality Assurance processes by assuring the vendors have the appropriate skills and education for working on U. S. Translation Company???s projects. Non-conformance information received from clients is to be analyzed to determine the root cause and identify and implement with the remainder of the Company???s staff the solution.

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS: Education, Experience, and Knowledge Bachelor???s Degree preferred. A working knowledge of desktop publishing software is preferred. Experience using computers and MS Office products is a must. Must have experience or be familiar with working in a small office and a willingness to work within a team concept. Must be willing to train on-the-job where experience and knowledge falls short of job requirements. Skills and Abilities 1. Strong editing background required. 2. Must pay attention to detail. 3. Must have the ability to manage several projects simultaneously. 4. Must be a quick learner and someone that can jump right in to job duties. 5. Typing skills of 50 WPM or greater. 6. Must have the ability to organize complex projects. 7. Must have the ability to work well with people either as co-workers, clients, translators, and interpreters. 8. Working knowledge of MS Office programs, and DTP programs. 9. Bilingual preferred. MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Mental/Cognitive 1. Is required to have sufficient cognitive abilities to analyze customer complaints, determine the core or root problem, and take corrective action. 2. Must be capable of quickly learning various MS Office software programs and desktop publishing software. 3. Must be capable of multi-tasking. Physical Physical requirements are limited but the person must be able to sit for long hours working at a computer screen, have good vision, good hearing, capable of speaking, good eye-hand coordination, and have two hands.
