PROVO, Utah (AP) -- A man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the shooting death of his uncle in Utah County has been sentenced to five years to life in prison.

Colton Louder pleaded guilty to the reduced charge last month in 4th District Court as part of a plea deal. The 25-year-old was sentenced on Tuesday.

Police say Louder shot his uncle, Jeffery Ackerman, after a confrontation in Ackerman's Pleasant Grove garage on Feb. 27. They say Ackerman chased Louder from the garage to a nearby lot, where Louder shot Ackerman several times. Ackerman died at the scene.

Prosecutors have said they didn't think Louder went to Ackerman's home with the intent to kill him.
