PROVO — Dusty Fielding had a little work to do Sunday if he wanted to win his first Utah Open championship.
He did more than enough, though.
The former Dixie State golfer fired seven birdies for a 5-under-par 67 to clinch the $20,000 grand prize and the win at the 2018 Siegfried and Jensen Utah Open at the Riverside Country Club in Provo.
"Honestly, I just kind of built momentum as the day went," said Fielding, who carded a four-day total of 16-under 200. "I started out a little shaky, but got more comfortable in the middle of the round and played some really good golf."
Blake Cannon, Samuel Saunders and Zahkai Brown finished tied for second with a four-day total of 13-under 203.
Brown, the tournament's defending champion from Colorado, held a one-shot lead over Fielding and Lone Peak alum Garrett Fotu entering the final round.
Fielding had the best day of the top three, though.
Holding a two-shot lead on No. 18, Fielding ripped his approach shot tight, then stepped up and dropped a birdie to finish his final round in style, clinching the title by three shots.

"I kind of had no expectations coming into the week," said Fielding, who grew up in Richfield and last played on the Web.com Tour in 2013. "I haven’t had a very good year; I’ve had good moments, but my game hasn’t been very sharp. I just haven’t put a lot of really good shots together. But this was one of those weeks where things went my way."
The event also raised $50,000 for the Special Olympics of Utah.
