SALT LAKE CITY — While everyone counts down the last few days before school is back in session, Utahns are also counting down the days until wildfire season is over.

This week, smoke from fires in both Utah and California caused the air to fill with smoke, at times making people across the Wasatch Front feel like they were at a campfire.

While the smoky air is certainly unhealthy, it also creates some decent photo opportunities. This week's user-submitted gallery is filled with photos of the unusual, smoky sunsets and sunrises that are brought on by weeks of wildfire smoke.

We also have a few photos sent in by Utahns who witnessed breaking news happening, including photos of the scene after a pilot crashed a small plane into his home early Monday morning.

Fire updates: Officials to reevaluate closure of US Highway 6

U.S. Highway 6 remains closed Tuesday from Thistle (U.S. Highway 89 junction) to Castle Gate (U.S. Highway 191 junction) as the Coal Hollow Fire continues to burn in southeast Utah County, officials said.
