SALT LAKE CITY — Look, it's Monday and we're all tired. We get it. But there are also a lot of reasons to smile today, and we've got a few stories to help make your week great.

Take a minute to read about the gratitude that community members shared with firefighters and about a police officer who went out of the way to save some ducks (as we established earlier, ducks seem to always be getting themselves in trouble this time of year and it's nice that people are willing to take a moment to help them out).

After reading these stories of kindness, maybe you'll have a little extra joy in your life this week, and you may even notice some of your own community members going above and beyond. If you have an uplifting story you want to share, send it our way.

The KSL.com “Make Your Week” column features stories sent in from people outside the newsroom. To send in the stories that have made your day better, email them in 100 words or less to [mdalrymple@ksl.com](<mailto:<a class=>). Photos and videos are encouraged.

Thank you cards make firefighters smile

Utah Fire Info

"The support from local communities near the Trail Mountain Fire has been overwhelming and deeply appreciated. Last week, thank you cards were randomly put into firefighters' lunches. Many firefighters spend most of the summer away from their families and these cards mean a lot."

Police rescue ducks on freeway

Curtis H.

"The other day during morning rush hour on the freeway, a policeman turned on his lights and escorted a panicked mother duck and her baby ducks across all lanes of traffic to get from the HOV lane to the other side of the freeway."
