AMAZINGTON — I love writing for the "Have You Seen This?" section because I get to stumble upon videos that make me laugh until my throat hurts, videos that put me on the verge of tears and videos like this one that inspire me and move me.
Director and choreographer Jacob Jonas got together with the dance group ILL-Abilities. On the Vimeo description for the video, Jonas explains that he made the video based on the group's mantra of "no excuses, no limits."
In Jonas's own words, ILL-Abilities is a dance group "representing the differently-abled community." He goes on to explain that he was "inspired by these artists with real stories who have overcome an obstacle of their own, inspiring others.”
Yesterday's Have You Seen This?
And it's so true. I have watched this video now several times and I am more mesmerized with each viewing. The control these dancers have over their bodies, the determination and hours of hard work that went into getting to this level — as well as the pain and disappointment they must have overcome during their journey — make for a "Have You Seen This?" I am truly excited to share with all of you.
I now have a favorite dance group, and they call themselves the ILL-Abilities.
