SALT LAKE CITY — A shelter in place was lifted Monday afternoon after a SWAT team could not find an armed man suspected in an attempted home burglary.

Salt Lake police responded to a report of an attempted burglary in the area of 800 West and 100 South shortly before 2 p.m., according to Salt Lake police detective Keith Horrocks.

"They were at home and the suspect approached their home and pointed a gun at them," Horrocks said.

The homeowner then fled the home and called police. Officers arrived and set up a perimeter around the home while they checked to see if the reported burglar was inside the home.

A SWAT team assisting Salt Lake police entered the home after about two hours and were unable to find the man they were searching for. The shelter in place was lifted shortly after 4 p.m.

Motorists and bicyclists were also being allowed back on the streets near the home.

Horrocks added no shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
