CLINTON — Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Clinton Tuesday morning.
Deven Tomas Gallegos, 21, from North Ogden, was found dead in a truck in Clearfield, according to Clinton Police Lt. Shawn Stoker.
Police responded to a call of shots fired at a home in the area of 1130 North and 1000 West around 9:30 p.m. Monday, Stoker said.
A witness reported hearing four to eight shots fired, and then seeing multiple vehicles leave the area with their headlights off. Clinton police were called to the scene with a SWAT team but didn't find anyone with a gun.
Clearfield police later received a call about a gunshot victim at 300 S. State St. in Clearfield, Stoker said. When officers arrived there, they found Gallegos deceased in a truck, along with an acquaintance. Police believe both men were involved in the earlier call of shots fired in Clinton. No other names have been released.
Several neighbors told KSL they were startled by the gun shots.
"It almost sounded like nail guns, like one of my neighbors was up late working," said Clinton resident Deron Weaver. "Then it kind of starting sounding a little bit louder and louder like fireworks."
"It scared the crap out of me," added Bobbie Jo Weaver. "First thing I could think is, 'I need to move.' I've got kids I'm raising here."
Investigators searched the home near 1130 North and 1000 West in Clinton and questioned some individuals but did not make any arrests.
According to past court records, the homeowner where SWAT was called is Brandon Corey Weaver. Weaver was arrested last August on unrelated charges after his wife died in their home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was booked into jail in August on charges of possession of a weapon by a restricted person and drug possession.
