The following letter was written by Haley Hayes

"Last night I was going home from work on I-15 and was rear ended and the car sped away. I didn’t get any information at all. I called 911 and they sent utah highway patrol trooper Charity Thomas to write up a report.

This morning when I went to the Hyundai dealership to see if they could pry open my trunk since all my work stuff was in there and I couldn’t get in through the back seat, as soon as I explained what happened to the Service department one of the men pointed to my bumper and said their license plate is right there! Just an imprint. We tried to decode it and wrote down what we thought it could be. I called The highway patrol again and left my message.

They told me that Charity would give me a call back. She called me shortly and plugged in the numbers/letters I gave her. Nothing came up. She told me to email her the pictures and hours later I received an email from her with 2 vehicles asking if either looked like possibly the vehicle that hit me.

An hour later another email saying that she had found the hit-and-run vehicle and was speaking with the owner. She said she would be getting their insurance information to me. There is no way I can Express my gratitude for our police force.

Charity went above and beyond and I feel like with all the negative energy the police sometimes get we forget what we have and what this community and state and country would be like without these people like her.

I wouldn’t have been able to pay my deductible right now and I had no information on this car other than the color. She worked so hard at this and I want her to know the different she’s making."
