THE CLASSROOM — Little kids have got to be some of the greatest things on the planet.

Sure, I want to give my own kids away to anyone who will take them at times, but ultimately, little ones just fill me with joy.

Kids are spontaneous and tend to do whatever seems to come naturally in the moment. They are unapologetically themselves, and for the most part, they are sweet and adorable. These traits are on full display in this video that is legitimately my favorite thing I've seen in a very long time.

This kindergarten class gathered to watch a baby chick hatch from its egg. As soon as it does, the sight of the tiny bird elicits gasps from the small congregation and a few "oohs" and "aahs." Then one of them unavoidably says, "He's so cute."

While the genuine reactions from these kindergartners to the birth of this chick is great, it's what happens next that makes me smile ear to ear. The teacher, or who I assume is the teacher, says, "Say happy birthday."

Yesterday's Have You Seen This?

In their small sing-songy voices the children say the words and they happen to hit a mutual key and without warning or any discussion they all break into the "Happy Birthday" song. I can't really explain what is so incredibly wonderful about this other than it's completely unadulterated kindness and sincere love. The spontaneous song is truly one of the sweetest things I've seen in a very long time.

Then the obligatory, "cha cha cha" follows the singing, which my first-grader has let me know is a thing now, and one of the children cautions his or her peer to be quiet because this is a baby after all. So what does the admonished child do? Whispers "cha cha cha" a little quieter than before.

I love kids and who they inherently are and this video perfectly explains why.
