SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Highway Patrol troopers remind drivers to treat traveling in the fog a lot like snow.
On Monday morning, UHP responded to 54 incidents in Salt Lake County in just about eight hours. With more fog on the forecast, troopers want to remind drivers the rules of the road. said,
“Typically what I’ll do is I’ll kind of go 5 (miles) under the speed limit," said UHP trooper David Wurtz. "Stay in the right lanes. I’ll run my rear radar that way I can watch in my mirrors see whose catching up to me.”
He also reminds drivers to leave plenty of space between you and the car in front of you.
And when driving in a fog bank and your visibility is reduced quickly, remember to not stop in the lane of traffic. Wurtz said that’s when big pile-ups occur. Instead, you want to slow down and get off the interstate as soon as you can.
