OGDEN — A 28-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition after being shot early Monday.
Police say it's the third shooting in 48 hours in the same area, and the incidents could be connected.
"The initial investigations indicate the shootings are not random, but specifically targeted certain individuals. The motives for the shootings have not yet been determined," the Ogden Police Department said in a prepared statement Monday afternoon.
Just after 2 a.m. Monday, a man was shot in the head in the 900 block of 16th Street, said Ogden Police Lt. Tim Scott. The man, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
The incident comes on the heels of another shooting about 2 p.m. Sunday just a few blocks away in the area of 769 Canyon Road. An 18-year-old man was shot multiple times, but his injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.
"The victim was uncooperative," police said about trying to interview the man.
Those two incidents may also be related to a call of shots fired in the 200 block of 25th Street about 11:45 p.m. Saturday. Three businesses and two parked vehicles were damaged by gunfire, but there were no reports of injuries, according to police.
Police were investigating Monday whether the shootings were gang- or drug-related.
