WEST VALLEY CITY — Police were looking Tuesday for a man suspected of shooting another man at a West Valley hotel.

The shooting was reported about 4:15 a.m. inside La Quinta Inn, 3540 S. 2200 West. A man, whose name and age were not immediately released, was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his torso, said West Valley police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku.

The man walked into the lobby and told hotel employees that he had been shot in his room, Vainuku said.

Investigators believe the gunman and victim knew each other, she said. Information about what led up to the confrontation or if police found additional evidence in the room was not immediately available.

Anyone with information can call police at 801-840-4000.
